Documentation for NOC:
DIsplay of random tangents
In the random tangents mode for cloud, random triggers are generated from file sets based on the type of search query.
Currently the queries are classified as nouns or actions based on matching with predetermined search lists. If the search query does not fall within this it is considered as random and tangents from both noun and action lists are generated using processing.
The random tangents are generated using 4 idea boxes.Idea boxes are changed every 400 frames.
Each idea box corresponds to a method of presenting lateral strategy.
Idea box 1 presents random input or a tendril with words at its end nodes, the words change with time interval t, so long as the the current idea box is running.
Idea box 2 is an actions suggester, implemented with bezier curves ending in an ellipse and the action.
Idea box 3 represents morphological breakdown of objects represented at various points on the circumference of a circle.
Idea box 4 presents attitude implemented with simple ellipses.
The processing applet is implemented as within the random tangents tab as part of the cloud application
Final Version 6
The visual considerations of presenting these tangents were important. With some user research the following conclusions were drawn
1) The data had to experiential of fluidity and continuum
2) The presentation methods had to be simple and free of animation or complexity
Keeping in mind the above the presentation was time controlled with simple fade in fade out messages and time based animation.
